Walt Disney World Trip Report 2012 Day 10

Day 10 Wednesday January. 18, 2012    Day 1  Day 2  Day 3  Day 4  Day 5        Day 6  Day 7  Day 8  Day 9

Well unfortunately this day had to come, the dreaded departure day. This was Chris's and my first vacation just the two of us and it was coming to an end. We spent the morning finishing up packing and going over all the documents we would need to travel home. We shared memories together that we had made throughout our ten days at Disney World. We wondered when we would be able to return to such a magical place.

We checked out of our hotel room at the Pop Century and checked our luggage at the front of the hotel until the Magical Express came to pick us up. We went to the food court in the hotel and had one last bite to eat and watched some of the cartoons they had on.

 

The Magical Express came and picked us up and whisked us away to the Orlando International Airport where we waited for our late flight home. We said goodbye to warm Florida and headed back to snowy Canada. As soon as we were home we started discussing when we would like to go back.

Walt Disney World Trip Report 2012 Day 9

Day 9 Tuesday January. 17, 2012    Day 1  Day 2  Day 3  Day 4  Day 5  Day 6  Day 7  Day 8

Day 9 was our final day in Disney World, so the only place you can spend your last day in Disney World is Magic Kingdom! We were back again for the opening show and headed right to the rides right away. We rode Space and Splash Mountain a few times knowing this would be our last time for awhile. After getting all of the rides out of our system we started to explore more of the park that we didn't explore the other day. We spent some time admiring the art work in Cinderella's Castle, it's beautiful and amazing the detail in there!

We went walking around Fantasyland and later on Chris and I even found ourselves in stocks! We headed over to the train station after and spent some time looking at all the detail put in the station. We went up and waited for the train, as we wanted to take it all the way around Magic Kingdom. We headed back over to the Pirates of The Caribbean area and Chris got to meet his favorite character Goofy!

We once again headed back to the hotel for some rest. We headed back to Magic Kingdom for the evening and took advantage of riding some more rides while people watched The Main Street Electrical Parade. Afterwards we got ourselves a spot to watch Wishes. What a fantastic way to end our magical vacation seeing such a great fireworks show. We waited for majority of the crowd to leave before making our exit from the park. We went back to the hotel and got some time to pack and be ready to leave in the morning!

Walt Disney World Trip Report 2012 Day 8

Day 8 Monday January. 16, 2012    Day 1  Day 2  Day 3  Day 4  Day 5  Day 6  Day 7

Day 8 at Disney World we decided to have a more relaxing day. We slept in late and planned on just spending the day at the hotel and Downtown Disney. We explored all of the shops that Downtown Disney has to offer and bought some souvenirs, Chris's favorite store was of course the Pin Trading store. We spent a lot of time there and did some trading with the cast members.

We had early dinner reservations at Planet Hollywood. It was a very good dinner and it was really neat to see all of the movie memorabilia. We headed over to the World of Disney store after and checked out all of the cool merchandise. We went to the Lego store after and it was amazing all of the creations they are able to make with Lego. After that we headed back to the hotel to do some more relaxing.

Walt Disney World Trip Report 2012 Day 7

Day 7 Sunday January. 15, 2012    Day 1  Day 2  Day 3  Day 4  Day 5  Day 6

We got up early again on day 7 and we spent some time exploring the hotel some more before boarding the bus to Magic Kingdom! After watching the opening show at Magic Kingdom we headed over to Space Mountain to ride it a few times. After riding it we went and rode Splash Mountain, we would have rode Big Thunder Mountain to, but it was closed for refurbishments! We went on to ride Pirates of the Caribbean and The Jungle Cruise. We both loved the jokes on the Jungle Cruise.
 We had a reservation at Crystal Palace for lunch as it was a family favorite when I was younger. It was a nice buffet and it was great meeting all the Winnie The Pooh characters as they came to our table. Crowds were getting heavier so we decided to go back to the hotel for the afternoon so I could have a nap and Chris could have some time in the pool.






We returned to Magic Kingdom in the evening after having a relaxing afternoon. We rode a few more rides and I made Chris even ride It's A Small World as it's a classic Disney ride. After riding more ride we go ourselves ready for The Main Street Electrical Parade. It was a great parade and seeing all of the lights was beautiful. We were done for the day and headed back to the hotel for a good night sleep.

Walt Disney World Trip Report 2012 Day 6

Day 6 Saturday January. 14, 2012    Day 1  Day 2  Day 3  Day 4  Day 5

On day 6 we went to Hollywood Studios, we arrived there about 7:30 in the morning. It was an extra magic hours morning there so we were in the park by 8:00 am. We went and rode Tower Of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster a few times before the crowds came in. We had fast passes for Toy Story Mania so that we could ride that later. After we did some exploring around the front and then headed back towards Muppets where I got to meet Ferb! We had just missed Phineas with him, but it was great still meeting Ferb.

After exploring the front half of the park and meeting Ferb. We headed over to the Star Wars area as Chris and myself are big Star Wars fans. We rode Star Tours and explored the shop with all the Star Wars merchandise. We headed over after and did the Backlot Tour, Chris loved it as he is a big movie fan. Seeing all of the stuff from the movies was great to. We bought some pins and headed over to use our fast passes for Toy Story Mania!

We headed over to the Indiana Jones show to finish the day. Chris was hoping to be in the show, but was not selected. It was no big deal though, it was still a really fun show to watch and see how they do all the stunts in the movies! We headed back to the hotel to relax and have some dinner. Chris saw the Mickey oreo cupcake and had to have one, I have to agree it was delicious!

Walt Disney World Trip Report 2012 Day 5

Day 5 Friday January. 13, 2012        Day 1  Day 2  Day 3  Day 4

We began day 5 by exploring the Pop Century hotel and had fun taking pictures with some of the big characters. We then boarded the bus for Epcot, again to be there right for when the gates opened. We of course went straight to Soarin' and Test Track to ride each of them a few times before the crowd came in. We had planned to explore the World's Showcase more this time, so we had some time to kill until it opened. We went and rode Mission Space and the Ellen Energy ride. Chris had me even try Captain EO, it was "interesting".

 Crowds were getting larger so we had decided to head back to the hotel for mid day and relax some. We returned to Epcot after having a relaxing afternoon to take advantage of the extra magic hours and to see Illuminations! When we got back into Epcot we took some time to take pictures at the entrance around Spaceship Earth and the fountains. We had decided to take the boat across the lake to start off in World's Showcase where we had left off before. We took some photos around World's Showcase and took in some of the different cultures.

It was neat to see some of the different shows that the many countries had to offer. We went and rode Test Track one more time before finding our spot for Illuminations! We decided to watch the fireworks from the Canada area and it was fantastic! Disney sure does know how to do a fireworks show! We waited for the crowd to leave so that we could take advantage of the extra magic hours. We went and rode Test Track again. We decided to head back to the hotel, as we had another early day ahead of us.

Walt Disney World Trip Report 2012 Day 4

Day 4 Thursday January. 12, 2012        Day 1  Day 2  Day 3

We decided to spend day 4 at Animal Kingdom again, as we had booked a breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe. We arrived earlier than our reservation so we explored outside the park and the restaurant a bit. We enjoyed the little water features outside the park, especially the waterfall! It was fun to see all the little wild lizards and snails that were running around out there to.



Once we had finished our yummy breakfast we went into the park and of course straight to Expedition Everest. We rode it again at least twice as the wait time was like 10 minutes. After that we spent some time walking the trails and headed over to explore Dinoland a little bit and ride Dinosaur once again. We waited in line to meet Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. Tigger being one of my favorite characters, we had to wait and it was worth it! I got a big hug from Tigger! After meeting one of my favorite characters of all time, we headed over to Festival Of The Lion King. We originally didn't plan on going to the show but based off what a cast member had told us earlier that day, we decided to go and it was worth it. What a fantastic show!

After being thrilled at the show we headed over to explore some more of the trails, again spending a lot of our time at the gorilla's and the hippo's. It was really cool when the hippo was swimming right up against the glass! We finished the day exploring around the tree of life and seeing the It's Tough To Be a Bug show! The overall design in the tree of life is awesome and the detail is stunning! After that we went back to the hotel and got some dinner and spent some time relaxing in the pool.

Walt Disney World Trip Report 2012 Day 3

Day 3 Tuesday January. 11, 2012        Day 1  Day 2

Day 3 began very early as we were taking advantage of the "extra magic hours" at Animal Kingdom. We arrived there bright and early shortly after 7:00 am. We wanted to be there lined up and ready to go for when the park opened at 8:00. We took some pictures outside the park and once the park was open we went in for rope drop. We made our way to Expedition Everest first as this was our first time for this ride. The crowd was brought to Expedition Everest by cast members to make sure everyone was safe, along the walk to the ride the anticipation built.



Once riding Expedition Everest 2 or 3 times, we continued over to Kilimanjaro Safaris. It was a fun ride and great to see such a variety of animals. It was great watching Chris's face as this was the first time he had seen a lot of these animals before in person. We went on the explore the trails that Animal Kingdom has to offer. Out of all the animals I think the hippo's, gorillas and tigers were our favorites and where we spent most of our time. After pulling ourselves away from the animals we headed over to Dinosaur! What a thrill that was, I had forgotten about how the ride ended and I screamed really loud, Chris could not stop laughing at me. We headed over to Kali River Rapids after Dinosaur as we wanted to wait till closer to the end of the day, just to be on the safe side in case we got wet. Turns out that was a really great decision as when we boarded the ride we were the only ones without ponchos! Well we know it is supposed to be random as to who gets soaked at the end of the ride, it didn't feel random. The only 2 on the raft who didn't wear ponchos got all of the water!
 Well after getting drenched we went through the Maharaja Jungle Trek and Rafikis planet watch. We started to get uncomfortable in our drenched clothing so we decided to call it a day and head back to the hotel to dry off and relax.
